Ludwig: Stop fooling around in the kitchen! (waves cleaver)
Kiku: Get your elbow out of my back!
Feliciano: LA LA LA Ambarabai ciccì coccò, tre civette sul comò
che facevano l'amore...LA LA LA...
They're all so irritated at him but they love him at heart. How can you not?
I suppose that this is a continuation of my first real Hetalia pic, "Oh, Those Axis Boys" [link] and a complement to "The Allied Kitchen"[link] (in fact, "Allied Kitchen" and "Axis Kitchen" are on opposite pages of my watercolor sketchbook. So fitting.) I've been sketching so many kitchen/food stuffs lately, and I wanted to put this trio into my new sketchbook. I went for a more yellow scheme here, with touches of red to lead the eye around–I'm especially proud of the counter top textures I hope they look marbled enough!
And yes, I had to put Italy in the same "Kiss the Cook" apron that France had in "Allied Kitchen." Though in a different color. There was probably a sale at the store or something, and I bet they were made in China As usual, I had lots of fun with all the little details–the red colander on the left is one we actually own, there's a trash can, bowls on the refrigerator, liquid soap on the window sill next to a bamboo shoot, and the dark poster thingy behind Germany is based off a sketch I made at the "Masters of Venice" show. don't ask me whose house it is, and since I only have my knowledge of kitchens to draw off (haha), it's all modern times.
Originally I wanted to have it open even farther back into a living room, with Romano hanging out and being grumpy and Austria playing the piano, but there was just not enough room, and I wanted it to be feasible, so...
Kitchens and dining rooms seem to be a theme in my new sketchbook lately. I was able to (quickly) sketch and watercolor a whole table laden with all the great components to make our Christmas Vietnamese spring rolls while my friends' dad said grace. (it was a very loooong prayer, needless to say) Maybe I'll upload that later...
BTW, for those wondering what Italy is singing, it's a nonsense nursery rhyme I looked up–couldn't find anything specific for juggling, but
