I still remember, when we were both small
You'd come out to play and we'd sit on the wall
Eating fishsticks and custard, you'd tell me your tale
Of that man in the magic blue box without fail.

You'd make me dress up in a torn shirt and tie
"Now you'll be the Doctor!" I said I would try
We played, and pretended to land on the moon
You said that your Doctor would come for you soon.

Would come for you soon–dozen years you did wait
While you grew so lovely with hair red and straight
One day that Magician, that Doctor came back
And rescued the planet from alien attack.
Then hardly before we had even seen his face
He vanished again without leaving a trace
Two years did elapse, and I asked for your hand
I said I loved you; but did you understand?

I said that I loved you, I said you were smashing
But on our wedding night we went off to go dashing
In that magic box with that Doctor of past–
But was that wedding night my longest or last?

What happened that night, before we were both wed?
Did I not lay dying, and was I not dead?
Or was I the Roman, the centurion?
Were you all a dream? Were you now all gone?
I heard my men speak of our "visitors" there
The man with the box and the girl with red hair
But when I did meet you there was something wrong
How could you forget me?Had it not been long?

The rest happened quickly–you knew me again!
You wept tears of joy and the spell was broken
We thought it was broken, but soon after that
A shot–then I cradled your form on my lap
A shot I had fired, though not by my will
A shot from my hand though I'd meant not to kill
For I was not real, I learned with a start
Just a man made of plastic, with a human heart

A man made of plastic, controlled by another
I fought to be free of that Being, that other
I fought and succeeded, but it was too late
For they'd made me kill you and send you to fate.

For that time was when the stars started to fade
Then I was no hero, morose and afraid
Meanwhile the Doctor met rivals he'd known
They caught him, and opened the great box of stone
The Pandorica! "It is ready!" They cried
"'Tis ready!" Then they locked the Doctor inside.

Of course I knew nothing so mentioned above
For I was outside with my now lifeless love
Remembering something the Doctor had said
When I was still wondering why I wasn't dead
"This world really is a ridiculous place
And sometimes, and rarely, by chance or by grace
Some miracles happen! I've never seen one
But I say it's foolish to say there are none."

"Ridiculous miracles!" said I aloud
"What wouldn't I do for one right about now!"
Then all of a sudden, a buzz and bright light
And standing before me at this time of night
A figure so strange who was holding a mop
Appeared right before me, a fez on his top
A Fragment of a poem about Rory, that was originally supposed to be my entry for :icontime-traveler-rory: 's Lone Centurion contest, but I got stuck as you can see, and ended up submitting a better, more complete poem, called "Song of the Lone Centurion." Read it here [link]

We need more entries for the Rory contest! Check it out at [link]

So yeah. I don't like this stub too much- it's too much of a summary of S5, but I do like bits and pieces of it, especially the beginning. I might recycle this later into something better. Comments r appreciated!

I love your poetry!
It's absolutely brilliant!
I like the last verse the best.
